“I saved my life,” said the Ukrainian soldier, pointing to the mobile phone hit by the bullet.

In a video that went viral on social media, a Ukrainian soldier is seen saying that a cell phone saved his life amid the conflict with Russia, which is now in its 55th day.

In the images, two Ukrainian soldiers look like a trench. One of them takes his cell phone out of his pocket and shows it to what looks like it was hit by a rifle bullet.

It is unclear where the video was taken, but the soldier’s nationality can be identified by the blue armband on his arms. Translations posted on social media indicate that the soldier said, “The only thing that saved my life is this phone… and an ID necklace I bought.”

The other later replies: “Look, hint [da bala] passed”.

The video, in which Russia says that a new phase in the war has begun, has been watched thousands of times on Twitter and Reddit.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated in an interview that the new goal would be the “complete liberation” of Donbass, Ukraine’s separatist regions in Lugansk and Donetsk. On March 29, the Russian government said that the first phase had been completed.
