Calgary police confirmed that an eleventh homicide has occurred on its territory since the beginning of the year, a significant increase compared to last year.
In 2021, Calgary recorded 19 homicides for the entire year.
Seven of the 11 2022 homicides in the metropolis were the result of shootings according to the Calgary Police Service (CPS).
Approximately 75% of these shootings are related to drug trafficking, road rage incidents or accidental exits.said Inspector Jodi Gach.
There were also shootings where the victim was targeted in organized criminal disputes about drugs and in disputes between conflicting gangs.
Police said this increase was tiring for his service, but the units work together to resolve the cases.

Calgary continues to be a safe city and we continue to devote all of our resources to suppressing gang activity and working with our organized crime unit and other crime prevention activities.
The 11th victim was identified
Calgary police said the 11th victim of the year was Hisham Ahmed. He is 24 years old. He died in the shooting around 10:30 pm Wednesday near Saddlecrest Boulevard.
