Featured presenter, Donald Trump interview and BBC poster competition: Media mogul Rupert Murdoch launched a new channel on UK TV on Monday, focusing on “enthusiastic debates” to attract people in an overloaded British media world.

At the inauguration of the antenna, journalist Tom Newton Dunn, face and right shoulder forward, introduced TalkTV as a hard new chainin a visual – blue dotted yellow – and sharp sound dressing.

After a news program with fascinating topics – the British soldier captured in Ukraine, inclusive writing and Prince Andrew – the channel aired an interview with the former president of America conducted by presenter Piers Morgan, known for his violent notable statements aimed at politically correct.

A promotional video clip from the show, titled Not censoredshows Donald Trump abruptly leaving the room after a hot exchange in the 2020 U.S. presidential election that he claims was stolen from him.

In a statement, the former president said Mr Morgan had tried illegally and deceptively cut off his long and tedious lecture.

In the interview, Donald Trump confirmed that he, when he was in power, threatened his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin we don’t seem to have intimidated him beforeabout the prospect of an invasion of Ukraine, refusing to say more.

The interview marked Piers Morgan’s big comeback since leaving the ITV morning show live in March 2021. He accused Meghan Markle, Prince Harry’s wife, of lying, citing in an interview her thoughts on suicide and the lack of support from the royal family.

Competition in conservative media

Designed to compete with GB News, a conservative channel launched last summer, TalkTV is entering a very crowded British media landscape.

In June 2020, Mr Murdoch’s group, News Corp, launched Times Radio, which was supposed to compete with BBC Radio 4, the public news channel.

While the 91-year-old Australian tycoon has long resented UK law banning pro-Trump content-which he can, however, broadcast on his Fox News channel in the US-he has found fertile ground for his empire in the Kingdom. United in polemics and agenda anti woke up of Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

And he has the advantage of having good relations with the Conservative government, which recently targeted the BBC and Channel 4, another public broadcaster.

Mr Murdoch’s real goal is to like the BBCsaid Jean Seaton, professor of media at the University of Westminster and official historian of the public audiovisual group.

The BBC and public broadcasters are a thorn in the side of News International’s strategic business interests [la filiale britannique de News Corp]he added.

According to Ms. Seaton, it is about destroying British institutions for the benefit of a political imperative, without an alternative perspective.
