Disney showed the first preview of “Avatar 2” this Wednesday (27), during CinemaCon, in addition to releasing the official title of the film: “Avatar: The Way of the Water”.

THE teaser shows that Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) now have children. “Wherever we end up, I know one thing: this family is our strength“, comments the protagonist in the preview.

New creatures are introduced, such as a species of flying fish that the Na’Vi learn to ride, and a whale that they communicate with underwater. Yet the indigenous people of Pandora are at war with each other – a conflict in which Sully and Neytiri’s family will play a key role.

It was also revealed that the film will have its first teaser shown in theaters prior to “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” sessions. The full trailer will be released online the following week.

At the event, Disney also revealed that it will re-release “Avatar” in September in theaters around the world with remastered image and sound. Furthermore, the producer Jon Landau promised that each sequel to “Avatar” will be independent of the next, always ending with an emotional conclusion, but that the films will connect to form a larger saga.

In a video message, the director James Cameron stated that “The Way of the Water” was done”for the biggest screens, at the highest resolution and frame rate possible“.

“Avatar 2” should be released in 3D, 4K and with an option of 48fps, a frame rate per second that is twice that of traditional cinema.

The sequel’s plot will feature the returns of Jake (Sam Worthington) and neytiri (Zoe Saldana) in the role of parents and living in a place totally unknown to them. This is because in the initial plot, the lives of Sullys is interrupted when the RDA mining operation returns to Pandora, forcing Jake to take the family to “what is seen as a safe haven” on the reef.

In addition to the duo, the film also features the returns of Sigourney Weaver (“Alien” franchise) and Stephen Lang (“Mortal Engines”).
