Andrew Garfield’s return to television after more than ten years of his last project, this time with his first leading role in the new miniseries “Under the Banner of Heaven”which will premiere it Thursday, April 28 on Hulufollowed by its confirmed premiere on STAR+ for Latin America, makes people around the world speak out because of the brutality of the history of murder of Brenda Lafferty and her baby in 1984 at the hands of her two brothers -in -law.

The series is based on the book’s homonymous Jon Krakauertelling a true-life story, introducing detective Jeb Pyre (Garfield) who begins to investigate events that took place within the Lafferty family, where he discovers entrenched truths about the origins of religion. Created by Dustin Lance Black, Daisy Edgar-Jones is the co-star of the series, playing Brenda Wright Lafferty, who becomes a victim of crime with her little daughter, Erica Lane, in a suburb of Salt Lake Valley, Utah. The other cast includes Sam Worthington, Denise Gough, Wyatt Russell, Billy Howle, Gil Birmingham, Adelaide Clemens, Rory Culkin, Seth Numrich, Chloe Pirrie, and Sandra Seacat.

The crime took place on July 24, 1984 in Utah, the quintessential Mormon state in the United States. Religious brothers Dan and Ron Lafferty, accompanied by two other accomplices they cut the throat of his sister -in -law Brendaa charming former TV host, Mormon, and wife of Lafferty’s third brother, Allenas well as your baby. Both brothers were arrested. Dan was sentenced to life imprisonment and Ron, to death for having control of the killings in the area. After a long legal battle, he chose to die under the bullets of a firing squad. But when he was on “death row” waiting to be shot, He passed away of natural causes in 2019.
