There was no 37th duel between Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray in Madrid. The Briton, formerly world number 1 who is now 78th, withdrew before their round of 16 match scheduled for Thursday at noon.
Unfortunately, Andy Murray, ill, is unable to playwritten by the organizers of Masters 1000.
They are set to face each other for the 37th time in their careers, but the first since January 2017 in Doha.
The Scot, who has been endowed with a titanium hip since 2019 and the beneficiary of an invitation to the Madrid tournament, has just won his first two against clay in five years (Roland-Garros 2017), against another comeback, Dominic Thiem, then against Denis Shapovalov (16th), to advance to the round of 16.
Djokovic will look for Pole Hubert Hurkacz (14th) or Serbian Dusan Lajovic (77th) in the next round.
