A residence and a garage of the indigenous community of Pikogan, near Amos, were engulfed by fire on Monday morning.
According to initial information, a fire broke out in the garage and spread to the residence on rue Isaac-McDougall.
As a result of this fire, two adults and four children lost their homes.
“He saved his brother”
A witness at the scene saw the two young men come out of the house. Serge Tremblay said he asked them if anyone else was still inside.
Someone lit up saying: “yes my brother is still inside”. No one pushed him to do so, but the boy went inside and came out with his brother, 15 seconds later. The amount of smoke inside so when he entered, I thought he would never come out. He, honestly, he deserves a good pat on the shoulder. He saved his brother. it’s obvioushe describes.
Residents in the area were already out of the house when firefighters arrived.
About twenty firefighters from Amos and Landrienne arrived at the scene.
When we arrived, the fire had spread to the plants. The straw is yellow so the fire runs throughout the plants. […] We don’t want to have any spread to other buildingssaid Stéphane Sigouin, deputy director of the fire department of the City of Amos.
People were bothered by the smoke. The exact cause of the fire is not yet known.
