How much will it cost to fill the album of Panini figures for the Qatar 2022 World Cup?

Panini confirmed that there will be an album of figurines World Cup Qatar 2022 and collectors are ready to: When will it come out? How many figures are there? How much is the estimated cost of filling it?

The official world cup figurine album will be released on August 24 in the United States, so it is expected to arrive in Argentina and the rest of Latin America by the estimated date. It was almost three months before the ball started rolling for the opening match of the World Cup.

Considering the Russia 2018 album, it is estimated that the Qatar 2022 edition will have at least 680 figurines. There are players from 32 teams, more stadiums, shields, formations and World Cup legends.

Of course, Qatar has yet to resolve some issues. One is the number of players each selected team can carry (not known if the list will be 23 or 26) and another is where three teams will advance to their respective playoffs and qualify. In this sense, it can be estimated that it is probably an extraordinary version and many more cards.

Peru will play against Australia or the United Arab Emirates on June 13 and New Zealand and Costa Rica will do so on the same day. Little is known about Scotland and Ukraine: the match still has no set time or day (and the winner will also have to face Wales) because of the war. Will they all be on the album? Just 3 winners?

How much does it cost to fill an album?

In 2016 and 2018, Paul Harpera mathematics professor at Cardiff University, Wales, has calculated the cost of completing Euro and World Cup albums in Russia, respectively.

Taking advantage of the approach of the specialist, the Twitter user @urisantxcruz wrote a thread with an estimated calculation of how much it would cost to fill the Qatar album in Argentine pesos.

“Considering that the album has 32 teams, stadiums, shields, formations and special figures”, the user specified, the Qatar 2022 album will have 680 figurines.

“Now, in 2018 the cost in Argentina of an envelope of figurines is $ 15 pesos. Now a package of figurines is at 60-65 pesos, so all calculations take into account this amount, which is definitely higher due to the inflationary situation ”, continues @urisantxcruz.

The hardest way to fill the album is without getting any repetitive numbers. In this sense, and according to calculations, to achieve this in this way, 137 packages will be required.

So, considering this number of 137 packages at an estimated cost of ($ 65) how much it would cost to complete the 680 figurines WITHOUT REPEATING would be $ 8,905 (80 dollars), a number that is frightening to beginning at a lot given the very low probability ”, explained the user.

Without changing the repetitive figurines, 967 packets are needed. This would be the worst case scenario, as completing Qatar 2022 like this would cost nearly $ 63,000 ($ 565).

The most feasible option is to fill the album by changing some figures and getting others by buying envelopes. When this situation came up, if “a reasonable average” was made, @urisantxcruz decided that completing the album by purchasing between 200 and 250 packs will cost between $ 13,000 and $ 16,250 (between 117 and 146 dollars).
