AFN National Chief RoseAnne Archibald has been suspended

The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) Executive Committee and its National Board of Directors voted to suspend National Chief RoseAnne Archibald, effective immediately.

Ms Archibald was accused of bullying and harassment by four staff. These accusations are now the subject of an external investigation.

The national leader has been suspended from salary pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation into four complaints filed against him.AFN said in a statement.

He will be suspended until the executive committee reviews the investigation report and makes a final decision on his status.said the statement.

This is the first time the executive committee has suspended a national chief.

In a statement released on Thursday, AFN confirmed that it had received several complaints about Ms Archibald last month and determined that the findings required further investigation by an external investigator.

Regional Chief Paul Prosper, spokesman for AFN, said in the statement that the organization had no choice but to suspend Ms. Archibald. Sadly we had to take this extreme step, but we had no other choice.he said.
