Carey Price’s return to play will have to wait a little longer. Samuel Montembeault will defend the Montreal Canadiens net against the Winnipeg Jets on Monday night at the Bell Center.

Called to release Jake Allen, injured in the lower body on Saturday against the Maple Leafs in Toronto, Montembeault will get his first start since March 27. Allen has started 11 of the last 12 games before falling into action.

Montembeault will be assisted by Cayden Primeau, who was recalled on Sunday from the Laval Rocket school club.

After the Habs ’morning practice, head coach Martin St-Louis said Price would play when the Habs let him know he was ready to return.

It’s been a busy week for the Montreal team. After hosting the Jets, he will travel to Columbus to face the Blue Jackets on Wednesday before returning home to face the New York Islanders on Friday and the Washington Capitals on Saturday.

The Jets will show up at the Bell Center without a star forward. Mark Scheifele will be notable in his absence due to the upper body injury sustained on Sunday against the Senators in Ottawa. He is ranked 2nd on his team in points in his collection of 29 goals and 41 assists.

The Manitobans earned the honors in the single game between the two teams this season. They won 8-4 at home in early March.
