Freddie Mercury’s Rolls-Royce will be auctioned for the benefit of Ukraine

The luxurious British car has little more than 62,300 miles to its credit (equal to about 100,000 kilometers), and despite being in perfect condition, it has been preserved for a long time.

Freddie Mercury was a huge fan of cars, as was the rest of the band. The song “I’m in love with my car” (I am in love with my car), written by Roger Tylor is a clear testimony of this. and one of his own inspiring muses it was this Silver Shadow.

The auction house clarifies that the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was registered in June 1974 and acquired five years later by Freddie Mercury’s company: Goose Productions Ltd.

Although the singer is unlikely to have handled it, why never had a driver’s licenseSilver Shadow is believed to have been her primary chauffeured vehicle during the queen’s heyday.

The vehicle papers include several workshop invoices in the name of Freddie Mercury. Interestingly, many of these archived documents are registered in the name of Maria AustinMercury’s former partner, who helped the singer with the maintenance of the Rolls-Royce.

A letter written by longtime Queen manager Jim Beach not only confirms that the car belonged to Mercury, but also states that after his death in November 1991, the Silver Shadow continued to be driven by the rock star’s sister, Kashmira Cooke. , who eventually purchased the vehicle in 2003.

The Silver Shadow changed hands a decade later after it was sold at auction. Since then it has spent most of its time stored in a garage, as if it were a museum piece. That is why Sotheby’s recommends the new owner to perform a full service.
