Far from the sophisticated style that Chinese brands are applying to their new models, this pick-up is all about simplicity and a super cheap price.

What does the $8,300 withdrawal bring?

Beijing Auto Works (BAW) is a subsidiary of the giant BAC extension. In the Asian country, he is recognized for having developed an iconic 4×4, the BJ212, a model that he started producing in the 60s and which still remains in his range.

And although the company’s novelties aim to develop more and more electric vehicles, it has started producing this truck which from the end of the year will be sold in China for 60,000 yuanequal to $8,270.

The styling that this truck sports is pretty straightforward, with traditional proportions for an average pickup crew cab body (Nobody with a simple cab has been shown at the moment). However, it contemplates the possibility of choosing between two wheelbase variants, which also ends up giving different bins.

The conventional version of the Calorie has a length of 5,280 mm and a width of 1,900 mm, similar measurements to a Toyota Hilux, for example. But with in the extended version its length reaches 5,520 mm and the length of the body increases from 1,595 mm to 1,845 mm.

This model will be presented with a motor potion. It is an atmospheric naftero of 2.0 liter that delivers 144 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque (moment of maximum force of the motor). It joins a 5-speed manual gearbox and is rear-wheel drive. A 4×4 version has not yet been announced but it can be equipped with off-road tyres.

While it looks quite rustic on the outside, inside it looks more like a car than a pickup. They are installed on the board two 10.25-inch screens: one works on the dashboard and the other is on the center console, it is tactile and concentrates most of the functions.

The rear seat allows you to change its position in order to locate the load even inside the passenger compartment. It allows both to turn the backrest and to raise the seat.

The basic equipment includes 2 front airbags, power steering, rear view camera and tire pressure monitoring system. The more expensive versions have a “hands-free” key and even voice control of the multimedia system.

The 8,300 dollars, which is equivalent to less than 2.5 million pesos, taking the blue dollar as a reference, represent an even low number for the Chinese market, which has a huge offer of pickups but with values starting from 14,000 dollars per models with characteristics similar to the BAW Calorie.
