The fourth generation of Mini was renewed again. After its first restyling, in 2019, the compact 3 and 5-door hatchback updated its design again and also included a new one. driving assistance.

Presented in 2015, this generation is known as the largest in history, in proportions, and for being the first to add inew 5-door body.

The new Mini has just arrived in Argentina in three trim versions (Cooper Classic, Cooper S Classic Comfort and JCW Comfort -the latter is in the 3-door variant only-), with prices starting at $ 49,900 and they amounted to US $ 78,900.

Image changes can be seen on the front of the vehicle, where the characteristic grille is enlarged with a hexagonal frame, and where the unique round headlights and position lights are replaced by vertical air intakes located on the sides.

In turn, the inner casing of the light circles with LED technology is no longer chrome, but black.

Back then, the changes were less noticeable. The model retains the Union Jack’s design character in the rear lights, which contain graphics inspired by the British flag, albeit with a darker tone.

In part, the rear fog light is now integrated into the skirt as an LED unit. It is noteworthy that all rear lights have LED technology, except for the reversing light.

Depending on the model, the Mini offers three types of tires different: 16-inch Revolite Spoke for Classic, 17-inch two-tone Rail Spoke for Classic Comfort and 18-inch light alloy for John Cooper Works, in black Circuit Spoke design.

The roof is another new one, as it is designed with a three-color gradient paint finish (San Marino Blue, Pearl Aqua Green and Jet Black), created using a new technique where three shades are applied successively in a wet process, and extending from the windscreen frame to the rear.

Inside stands the new digital dashboard of 5 inches, the 8.8-inch screen of the multimedia system, with Apple Car Play (it doesn’t have Android Auto) and the interior lighting system that allows the cabin to be set in six different colors.

Engines and transmissions

Mechanically maintained motorizationssTwinPower Turbo 3 and 4 cylinder. The first offers versions of the Cooper Classic, with a 1.5-liter engine that delivers 136 hp of power.

The Cooper S Classic Comfort version, meanwhile, has a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, whose power is 192 hp. In both versions, the engines are paired with a 7-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.

In turn, the “spicy” John Cooper Works (JCW) carries the same 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter engine with 231 hp, combined with an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.

More protection and technology

All versions of the new Mini come standard in the package DrivingAssistant, which includes a rear view camera with obstacle indicators and help lines; collision warning with autonomous emergency brake in the city and warning with steering wheel vibration for accidental lane change.

For its part, the John Cooper Works version of the assistance package includes a parallel and perpendicular parking assistance system; and steering wheel control while parking. In addition, it has a Head-Up display.
