It is not the first time that a person has found himself with more money in his bank account. But very few when that “transfer error” exceeds the $ 400,000.
The case occurred in 2015 and had an aggravating circumstance: the account holder did not recognize the claim of the depositor and used the money to buy two luxury cars and pay two personal loans shortly after receiving the money.
The complaint arrived in court and after a long judicial process the final sentence was recently issued: two years and one month of imprisonment for embezzlement and false documentation, among other causes.
The Romanian manager found an extra $ 433,000 in his bank account and did not return it.
Hundreds of thousands of errors
The protagonist of the case was manager of a Romanian company who at that time had a contract with a construction company to carry out a small project.
In 2015, an administrative employee of the construction company had to transfer some of them to the manager $ 1,700but he ended up filming by mistake $ 433,000 (equivalent to 407,000 euros).
When she noticed the mistake, the woman immediately contacted the manager of the supplier company and asked him to return the money. But she never got an answer.
A BMW enthusiast, he also bought a 6 Series Gran Coupe.
As demonstrated in the subsequent court proceedings, the manager stated that he had not received this amount, stating that it would have been pending if he had received it.
With no news in sight, the administration tried to contact him on the same day and in the following days but the manager never replied to his messages. Conversely, his phone seemed to be either turned off or out of range.
A complaint was subsequently filed and, after the investigation, it was shown that the manager had two loans in his name which were canceled within days of receiving the substantial amount of money in his account.
This action was one of those that allowed his persecution. Although the defendant would leave even more traces of money that did not belong to him, because he also bought two BMWs: one 6 Series Gran Coupé Y x5.
After a long judicial process of almost seven years, the Timisoara Court of Appeal sentenced the manager to prison, fined financially and also confiscated the two vehicles.
