Volkswagen Amarok II
Volkswagen introduced the new generation of Amarokthe medium pickup which features a new design, more technology and larger dimensions.
Unlike the Argentine-made pickup, the Amarok II It is the result of a joint effort between Volkswagen and Ford. It is built on the platform of the upcoming Ford Ranger, albeit with the style and technologies designed by Volkswagen.
It will be produced in South Africa to be marketed in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, numerous countries in Africa and the Middle East. This means that it will not be manufactured or sold in Argentina.

The region will continue to be supplied with the current pickup produced at the General Pacheco plant.
New design and innovative technologies
The Amarok II was developed and designed in Germany and Australia and is one of the achievements of the Cyclone Project who was about to land in the country but who eventually took another course for differences emerged between the local branches of both companies.
Volkswagen announced during its presentation that this new generation will have five versions and single and double cabin options.
New nose and LED headlights
The entry-level and intermediate range will consist of variants amarok, Life Y stylewhile the high range will be reserved for the Pan American (off-road appearance) e Adventure (exclusive style).
Compared to the previous generation, the Amarok II it grew in all its dimensions to improve the interior space. It will now have 5,350mm (96mm more) and a 3,270mm wheelbase (173mm more).
In turn, too improved its wading, loading and drag capabilities. For example, the former went from 500mm to 800mm. As for the load, it will now be able to carry up to 1.16 tons, while the resistance has risen to a maximum of 3.5 tons.

In addition to the exterior changes that show a new hood, headlight assembly, grille and fenders, the transformation is on the inside. The interior now has a digital and connected concept, the result of the work of Volkswagen’s commercial vehicle division.
The entry-level versions have an 8-inch digital dashboard that expands to 12 inches from the Style variant. In turn, the multimedia equipment screen is now in portrait format and dimensions of 10 or 12 inches depending on the version.
The complete equipment offers other exceptional elements such as a keyless entry and start system, a wireless charger for compatible mobile phones and a Harman Kardon sound system.
The multimedia screen is now vertical and can be 10 or 12 inches.
In turn, the list of driver assistance systems is just as extensive. The most outstanding technologies are adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keeping assistant, autonomous emergency braking system and traffic sign recognition.
Five engines available
The engine range for the new Amarok will include four turbodiesel engines and one petrol engine, available depending on the market.
Among the tankers are three 2.0-liter engines, which can deliver horsepower of 150, 170 and 204 or 209 horsepower (depending on the market). In turn, the largest is a 3.0-liter V6 with 241 or 250 horsepower.
Volkswagen Amarok II, pan-American version
The petrol, also turbocharged, has a displacement of 2.3 liters and an output of 302 hp.
The 209 HP versions will be equipped as standard with the new 10-speed automatic gearbox (optional on the 204 HP) which replaces the previous 8-speed gearbox.
Additionally, there will be 6-speed automatic and 5 or 6-speed manual options.
In many markets, the Amarok comes standard with all-wheel drive (4MOTION). Depending on the region and the engine, there will be two different 4MOTION systems: one with all-wheel drive selectable according to the given situation and one with permanent all-wheel drive.
