Fuel prices remain below 2 euros per litre. Better, they registered a new drop last week, according to the statement from the Ministry of Ecological Transition dated Friday, July 15.
The price of a liter of diesel, the best-selling fuel in France, thus fell 2.5 cents in a week, to 1.9696 euros per liter. The unleaded 95-E10 drops 3.2 cents to 1.9504 euros per liter.
The fuel discount was gradually disconnected
These falls had been anticipated given the drop in the price of a barrel of oil for several weeks. However, fuel prices remain at a high level knowing that they would be above 2 euros per liter without the discount of 18 cents introduced by the government on April 1.
The Government has decided to extend this discount until at least the end of September. It will drop to 12 cents on October 1 and then to 6 cents on November 1, before ending on December 1.
To replace it, starting in October, a “fuel subsidy for workers” will be launched, subject to means, for employees who use their car to go to work. It will be between 100 and 300 euros, depending on the level of income and the distance traveled.
