Motorists from the Gers, or who have passed through the department, could have been mistakenly intermittent in recent weeks. In question, a “configuration error in a construction radar placed on the RD928” between Solomiac and Mauvezin, the Gers departmental council indicated on its Facebook page on Friday.
“The Gers department invites users who flashed between 80 and 90 km/h on the RD928 between Solomiac and Mauvezin through this radar site to challenge their Verbal Report (upon receipt) (…)”, he specified. Interested drivers must attach to their protest letter “the traffic order signed by the President of the Departmental Council” available for download on this site.
“This section of road reports a speed increase of 90 km/h since June 2022, following a decision by the Departmental Council,” explained the community. However, the radar remained set to the previous speed limit.
Lap at 90 km/h in the Gers department
“This site radar, which was previously set to a speed limit of 80 km/h, shows all users traveling from 80 km/h,” he added. “The radar will be brought into compliance with the maximum authorized speed of 90 km/h on this stretch of road as soon as possible by the State services,” the department assured.
In July 2018, the Government had lowered, despite strong protests, the maximum speed of all secondary two-way roads without a central divider to 80 km/h. But a few years later, the departments finally had the option to go back to 90 km/h. An option chosen by the Gers department, like some thirty departments in France.
