Traffic was still disrupted in the Southwest on Friday morning. The A63 motorway was partially closed on Wednesday August 10 due to forest fires in the region.
bypass routes
Although Bison Futé expects very heavy traffic throughout France, about 40,000 vehicles are expected each day on this axis for the weekend of August 15, detour routes have been established.
This Friday at 9:40 a.m. traffic between Bayonne and Liposthey (exit number 17 – Atlantes network) was allowed for cars. The obligatory ring roads through the A64, A65 and A62 motorways were still in force for heavy vehicles, indicates the Twitter account of the A63which recommends listening to radio 107.7 to be aware of the situation in real time.
On Thursday, late in the afternoon, “the resumption of fire in Saint-Symphorien did not seem to question this route, but it is not ruled out that things change this Friday,” Sud-Ouest stresses.
Detour onto the A65
This Friday morning at 11am according to Google Maps, with the detour on the A65, it took a little over 2h50 to make the journey from Bordeaux to Bayonne (242 kilometers on the A65 and D824), 3h10 in the other direction.
There is no guarantee that the A63 motorway will reopen for this weekend. Remember to inform yourself if you plan to take this axis through Bison Futé, radio 107.7 or A63’s Twitter account.
