The 2023 edition of the Geneva Motor Show has been canceled due to “uncertainties weighing on the economy and the global geopolitical situation”, but also “risks linked to the Covid pandemic”, the organizers announced on Thursday, August 18.

A fourth year without a show in Geneva

Long a major event for the sector, the Geneva International Motor Show, canceled three times due to the pandemic, was set to return in early 2023.

But the organizers are now focusing on the future first edition of the International Motor Show in Doha, Qatar, in November 2023, they said. This new fair will be held every two years.

“GIMS 2023 was initially planned to have two editions, the first from February 14 to 19, 2023 at Palexpo in Geneva, and the second ‘world premium’ in November in Doha, Qatar,” the organizers recall in their press release. .

The first edition of the “Geneva Qatar International Motor Show” will take place in November 2023 and will take place in the facilities of the Doha Convention and Exhibition Center (DECC) and several other decentralized places “to enjoy many unique driving experiences. and spectacular.” .
