In July, 324 people died on France’s roads, according to the latest figures from the National Interministerial Road Safety Observatory (ONISR). A figure that reflects an increase of 12% compared to the same month last year and 8% compared to July 2019, which remains the reference year in the face of travel restrictions linked to the health context.
Compared to last year, road safety also notes an increase in road traffic of 5% throughout the month of July, and even 10% on weekends.
“The other indicators of road accidents are down compared to July 2021 and compared to July 2019”, underlines the press release, however, citing the number of accidents (-10%) or injuries (-11 %).
In the overseas territories, counted separately, 23 people died in a traffic accident in July 2022, compared to 30 in July 2021 and 24 in July 2019.
