After several weeks of decline, fuel prices stabilized last week in France.
Diesel was sold at an average of 1.84 euros per liter, with an increase of 5 cents compared to the previous week. Gasoline (SP95-E10) remained fairly stable, at 1,731 euros per liter, down 0.5 cents, according to the weekly statement from the Ministry for Ecological Transition (prices set on Friday, August 19) published this Monday.
This is the first time in nine weeks that the price of diesel has risen in France: it averaged 2.1345 euros per liter on June 17 and has been falling ever since. On the gasoline side, this is the tenth consecutive week of decline for the SP 95-E10, which on June 10 was at 2,096 euros per liter.
Main explanation for this decline in fuel prices for several weeks: the drop in oil prices. Last week, a barrel of North Sea Brent fell $5.8 to $98.2 a barrel.
From April 1, discount of 18 cents applies to fuel prices. A government discount that will increase to 30 cents from September, with an expected rise in oil prices. This discount will drop to 10 cents in November and December.
