While fuel prices have risen again in recent weeks, prices will drop automatically this Thursday, September 1.
In the first place, the Government discount, practiced since April 1 at all service stations, will drop from 18 cents to 30 cents per liter. This will be the discount practiced in September and October, before moving to 10 cents in November and December. It must disappear in January 2023, except in the event of a new rise in prices at the pump that would push the Government to extend this measure.
To this discount will be added that of TotalEnergies in all its stations (Total and Total Access). A discount of 20 cents also comes into force this Thursday, September 1, until October 31, before going down to 10 cents until December 31. It is added to the specific bonus of 12 cents practiced at its motorway stations in July and August.
32 cents less
By combining the two discounts, TotalEnergies off-highway stations will see the price displayed at the pump on all fuels drop by 32 cents. That’s a reduction of 16 euros on a full 50 litres.
Contacted, TotalEnergies assured that the price change will be effective from midnight for the stations open at night, to the opening for the others.
In the other stations it will be necessary to have at least the government discount increased by 12 cents. Or 6 euros saved with a full tank. It also remains to be seen whether the big retailers will revamp their operation by allowing them to take advantage of vouchers or other forms of discounts.
Unless you’re about to run out of fuel, it may be worth waiting until Thursday to hit the pump.
