The 2021 trend continues to take hold: in Argentina, the sale of motorcycles continues to grow and even exceeds the sale of cars at 0 km. Last year the automotive sector ended the period with 381,770 patented vehicles and motorcycles with 383,683 units.
The latest records indicate that 34,129 motorcycles were patented in July, which means an increase of 7.7% compared to the same month of 2021, as reported by the Association of Automobile Dealers of the Argentine Republic (FACE UP TO).
In this way, 255,500 units have already been patented in the first seven months of the year, 27.6% more than in the same period of 2021, when 200,230 units were sold. This figure is also higher than that accumulated by cars, which reached 243,736 units.
The phenomenon is supported by various factors. On the one hand, most of the best-selling motorcycles are of low displacement, so they offer affordable prices and also the possibility of financing them in full with a maximum duration of 48 months.
The Mi Moto Plan, which allows you to access a loan granted by Banco Nación, is still in force with great acceptance and is valid for all nationally made motorcycles. In addition, in several retailers in the country, and also in supermarkets, shopping malls or appliance stores; There is a varied catalog of models to buy with the Now 12 and Now 18 plans and pay by credit card.
In turn, the proliferation of ways of working, such as couriers, deliveries and delivery of products through different platforms, for its part, has promoted the incorporation of the motorcycle as a true work tool since the pandemic.
Horacio Jack, president of the Motorcycle Division of FACE UP TO, he stressed: “July was another month of growth for motorcycles and we can see that market behavior will continue to grow, beyond the problem of imports of both parts and parts. Motor vehicles continue to grow, consolidating their use as a means of transport in more and more provinces and cities, not only in the case of the smallest units, but also in those of the medium segment, for journeys and journeys of many kilometers, a segment that if had it had a larger supply of units, it could have increased the patents even more. We plan a growth of 25% for this year and to be able to complete it close to 470,000 units ”.
According to the July report, Honda continues to drive the market with 7,854 units, with 9 models that adapt to different tastes and needs. Motomel completes the podium, with 4,416 units, and Zanella, with 4,034. The fourth place is occupied by Corven, with 3,916 units, and Gilera completes the top 5, with 3,202 units.
97.8% of patents belong to motorcycles of national origin, whether they are produced or assembled in the country. Only 2.2% comes from abroad: among these, 27% comes from Brazil, 23% from China, 13% from India, 6% from Thailand and 5% from Japan, among the main destinations import.
