Potatoes, meat, coffee: which products have risen above inflation over the past year

The kilo of onions was the product that increased the most, accumulating a Increase of 572.3% from October 2021. This was revealed by the report of the RA Center of the UBA Faculty of Economic Sciences, which released its index of the maximum and minimum of the last 12 months in terms of inflation.

Instead, the item that increased the least in annual terms was public transport which, including recent increases, only increased by 40.1%less than half of general inflation.

What is the product that has increased the most?

Analyzing specific products, according to INDEC measurements, the highest year-on-year increase was obtained from the kilo of onions: its price has increased, on average, by 572.3% (It’s nearly six times more expensive than it was a year ago). Other equally important increases were observed per kilo of potatoes (an increase of 323% per year), sweet potatoes (over 274% more expensive), and the kilo bag of sugar (215% More expensive). They also observed large increases, of more than 100% annually in milk, oil, meat, flour, toiletries, cleaning products, coffee and alcoholic beverages.

The services with the greatest variation

As for services, they generally increased by 78.4% compared to the same month in 2021, being below inflation. The largest increase in this category was that of prepaid cards, with an annual 87.8%, almost on a par with restaurants, which grew by 83.7%.
