The Ministry of Agriculture has granted an exceptional extension of 180 days for shipments of grain maize, with the aim of alleviate the hardships caused by drought and ensure domestic supply.

The provision, adopted with resolution 182/2022 published today in the Official Journal, grants an Exceptional Automatic Extension of 180 calendar days to the Foreign Act of Sale (DJVE) for corn whose declared shipping period expires, plus the extension automatic, It was scheduled for December, January and February.

As a result of the granting of this extension, the possibility of an extraordinary extension of 30 days granted by the usual notarial deed system is excluded.

The resolution also authorizes the Undersecretariat for Agricultural Markets to dictate “the complementary and clarifying rules necessary” to implement the provision, as well as the future adjustments essential to maintain the normal course of export operations of agricultural products. the regime of Law 21.453.

The recitals of the resolution indicate that the measure is requested “to ensure the normal supply of the internal market”in the face of the “major drought affecting the whole territory”.

In the case of corn, it has been indicated that in the projections for the current campaign – on the basis of a technical report prepared by the Undersecretariat of Agricultural Markets – “It is clear that substantially lower production is expected” and, therefore, “it is necessary to adopt concrete measures in order to minimize the consequences”.
