Women and young people under 35 predominate in the National Register of Workers in the Popular Economy (Renatep), which includes those who work in the informal sector, in conditions of poverty and extreme precariousness.

Renatep has already done it 3,457,669 registered And it doesn’t stop growing. On average and according to the evolution of recent months, 157,167 workers are enrolled per month. And in 10 provinces there are more registered workers than private workers enrolled in the social security.

Compared to the first Report (February 2021) with 2,093,850 registered, almost 1.4 million new registrations were added in June 2022. And since the publication of the previous report (February 2022), 232,401 people have registered, which implies a growth in the registered population of 8%.

Renatep includes street vendors, people working in community canteens and picnic areas, mainly women, street vendors, artisans, cartoneros, informal garbage collectors, window cleaners, small farmers; and construction; those working in social infrastructure and environmental improvement, and small producers and manufacturing producers, among others.

According to the official report:

  • In the population of Renatep they predominate womenyes (58%).
  • 62.5% of workers are found between 18 and 35 years old old. This contrasts with the registered employment of SIPA in the private sector, where the percentage in this age group is 38.8%.
  • In educational termsit is observed that the majority of registered workers (60.6%) did not complete compulsory education (initial, primary and secondary).
  • The central region of the country is the one with the highest number of registrations (51.1%) and Buenos Aires is the province that leads the number of registrations, with 35.9% of the national total. Followed by Tucumán, Salta, Chaco and Santiago del Estero, with 6.2%; 5.8%; 5.7% and 5.4% respectively. However, the highest percentage of Renatep enrollees compared to the population aged 18-65 occurs in Santiago del Estero with 30.7%.
  • In 10 provinces of the country -the vast majority of NOA and NEA- Renatep enrollments outnumber private sector employees enrolled in SIPA. In the past four months, currents It has come to have more people registered in the popular economy than in registered private labour. The others are Formosa, Santiago del Estero, Chaco, Jujuy, Salta, Misiones, Catamarca, Tucumán and La Rioja.
  • At a national level, personal services and other professions and socio-community services concentrate 62.8% of cases, followed by popular trade and work in public spaces (11.8%). The rest of the business lines do not reach 10%, with Transport and warehousing the one that records the lowest number of registrations (1.2%).
  • In relation to the total occupations, more than half of the enrollments (52.8%) correspond to workers in canteens and equipped areas, cleaners, farmers, street vendors and masons/durleros.
  • From July 2020, 978,355 people who receive the Strengthening Work enrolled in Renatep. It is observed that 63.3% of this population are women and compared to the total of the register, this population is even more feminized.
  • In terms of territorial distribution, there is a large concentration of those who perceive the Potenciar Trabajo in the province of Buenos Aires (48.2%), higher than that presented with respect to the group of those enrolled in the registry office. However, if we analyze the number of enrollments in relation to the population between 18 and 65 years old by province, we obtain that the relative weight of those receiving the Potenciar Trabajo program is greatest in Jujuy (8%) followed by Chaco and Santiago del Abroad with 5.3 and 4.9% respectively.
  • In terms of occupations, almost half of the enrollments of people receiving the Potenciar Trabajo correspond to workers in canteens and picnic areas (48.5%).
