With great delicacy, in order not to end up like a spoilsport, the clubs raised their voice against the national holiday on this Tuesday that the Government has decided to allow people to celebrate the arrival of the national champion.

“The Argentine confederation of medium-sized enterprises (CAME) underlines the importance of the title obtained by the Argentine national team”, he said at the beginning of the statement released by the body that brings together smaller companies, many of which are traders. “But we’re four days away from Christmas, which is one of the most important working dates of the year. A holiday across the country hurts the sales of commercial SMEs”, said the president of CAME, Alfredo González in a statement.

The body argued that, while understanding the transit difficulties that will arise in AMBA with the transfer of national team players as part of the celebrations of the new soccer world title, this is not the reality of the rest of the country.

Inside, the dynamics are completely different. With this holiday, discontent is generated among the traderssince it has a economic impact that SMEs are unable to deal withr,” González pointed out.

“In the context of five consecutive months of low retail sales, with open negotiations with the union to define the second tranche of wage adjustments due to inflation, with the payment of the second half bonus and with him bonus decreed by the Government, the holiday only makes the delicate situation of small and medium-sized enterprises more complex”, the document specifies.

Furthermore, CAME has highlighted that SMEs that decide to open must pay for the working day with the corresponding additional holiday cost.

“We understand the national government’s decision, but we do not agree with the holiday decree. The most logical thing to do in an exceptional situation like this would be to define the day as not working and therefore it is the entrepreneur who decides whether or not to open his factory”, concluded González.
