With galloping inflation, 94.8% in 2022 (the highest since 1991), the program launched by the government called Fair prices It has not yet finished showing favorable results in the pockets of Argentines, so the Union of Truckers together with the secretary of commerce announced that they will carry out check together in the distribution centers of the main supermarkets to guarantee the catering in the gondolas.
The objective of the Fair Prices program, according to the government, allows all Argentines to have access to a basket of 1,900 products with frozen prices and about 20,000 basic necessities that are sold in large supermarket chains.
Yet the plan still looks don’t hit the gondolas and the products increase in value every month. That said, the truckers’ union along with the secretary of commerce have announced that they will work with controls in the distribution area of major stores.
“It is extremely important that the large distribution centers respect the supply and thus guarantee the products meet in the gondolasto this end the Truckers’ Union after meeting Pablo Moiano with the Secretary of Commerce Matias Tombolinihave started a joint work in which checks are carried out in the different distribution centers such as COTO, Carrefour and Disco among others, the goal is ensure the implementation of the programme and therefore take care of the purchasing power of every Argentine,” the note reads.
And he concludes: “The inspections are carried out jointly by the Logistics Sector appointed by Oscar Borda, inspectors of the National Trade Secretariat, the director of Inspections Gustavo Gamito and Lucila Bueti Undersecretary for Actions for the Defense of Consumers”.
The disadvantage arises when it comes to revealing prices, where the products considered basic are those that have increased the most with increases in December ranging between 6 and 14%. Among the others affected by the inflationary increase are sweet biscuits (13.75%), soft drinks (+11%) and alcoholic beverages (between 6.59% and 11.18%), the dulce de leche (+8.08%)), water biscuits (+7.66%), table bread (+7.64%), sunflower oil (+6.67%) and fine salt (+5.81%), according to INDEC records for Capital and GBA.
On the basis of these data, the question arises of the little or no impact of the Precios Justos or Precios Cuidados program on this set of foods.
It is that “the prices surveyed that fall within the agreement programs between the State and the business sector for December represent 2.88% of the total prices surveyed in Capital and GBA”, clarifies INDEC.
However, in some products, such as biscuits or soft drinks, they represent more than 10%. And the Report adds: “the largest number of products surveyed (of the agreements between the State and companies) belongs to the “Food and Beverage” category.
