The export agreement with Saudi Arabia is progressing

The Secretary for Development Planning and Federal Competitiveness of the Ministry of Economy, Jorge Neme, together with the Ambassador of Argentina to Saudi, Guillermo Nielsen, held a working meeting with the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Saudi ArabiaManosur bin Hilal Al Mushaiti, to advance a long-term agreement and significant volumes for Argentina as a supplier of fodder, fruit, oil and other foods for that country.

In turn, progress has been made on whether Saudi Arabia commit the necessary investments to pre-finance the development of new productive regions with 25-30 year agreements under irrigation and to facilitate the export of food.

Neme explained that these advances will translate into works and programs promote the productive and water development of different areas of the country.

“The national government has the decision to strengthen its presence in each of the provinces, accompanying the producers and guaranteeing the financing for the execution of the water works,” said the official.

The Planning Secretary elaborated on the strategic importance that Saudi Arabia attaches to the agreement with Argentina for the supply of food, and the importance for our country to reach agreements that transcend the situation and promote productive development at medium and long term.

The meeting, held last Thursday, was part of the trade mission in Arabia Directed by Neme and the Secretary of Mines, Fernanda Avila, together with the Governor of Catamarca, Raul Jalil.

The entourage had previously held other meetings with senior Saudi officials, such as Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar Al-Khorayef; the Deputy Governor and Investment Director of the Public Investment Fund, Yazeed Al-Humied, and the Minister of Transport, Aleh Bin Nasser Al-Jasser.

Also on the agenda are meetings with local companies suggested by the Saudi Deputy Minister of Agriculture, for which they are intended closing deals with Argentine businessmen for the exchange of groceries.
