T he Ministry of Energy has given a mandate to Cammesa to continue regularize the debt of electricity distributors. The idea is for these companies to start the year without commitments with Cammesa and who can pay every month. A group of distributors agreed yesterday to catch up, but some cases still remain, such as cooperatives and a company operating in La Rioja.
In the previous regularization, Cammesa had debt forgiven for principal of $60,000 million, as well as having forgotten all the interest accumulated between 2020 and 2022 due to unpaid invoices from the distributors. In operations closed at this stage, the conditions change.
The distributors they will not have a grace period to pay. In other words, they pay the month after signing the agreement. Not even the distributors will have an interest rate advantage. In addition, they do not have a grace period, i.e. it is paid the month immediately following the signing of the agreement.
Your debt payment plan is ready 96 installments (8 years) monthly. But, instead of a pre-set rate, distributors will have to pay based on the monthly change in the monomic price. This is calculated in pesos, but is adjusted according to the devaluation of the official exchange.
The periods that are regularized were not contemplated in previous agreements. But understand until December 31st.
The Secretary of Energy did not specify which distributors will enter this payment plan, or with what criteria it was established who enters this variant (without cancellation of the principal and interest debt) with respect to who entered the previous one. In the earlier phase, principal debt to the companies of more than $60,000 million was forgiven, while interest of more than $200,000 million was also forgotten.
In Energy they highlighted it The debts of 93% of distributors have already been settled. At the end of 2022, they exceeded $500 billion. Agreements are now underway to settle the debts of the cooperatives and the La Rioja distributor.
Energia also released a resolution yesterday calling for more electricity generation through several measures. Several generators consulted understand that the measure does not bring about major changes. “It’s a small and insufficient stimulus,” they complained.
