The president of AySA, Malena Galmarini, held a bilateral meeting this Wednesday with the president of the IDB (Inter-American Development Bank), Ilan Goldfajnafter being invited to the organization’s headquarters in Washington to participate in the first Regional Forum on “Infrastructures at the service of gender equality”.
“I held a bilateral meeting with Ilan Goldfajn, before my participation in the forum. It was a very important meeting to continue strengthening ties between Argentina and this institution,” said Galmarini.
Since the beginning of the administration of Malena Galmarini, IDB and AySA have resumed the joint work program to increase the coverage of drinking water and sanitation in the city of Buenos Aires and in the first, second and third cordons of the Buenos Aires suburbs, and optimize the functioning of existing networks with the aim of improving the quality of life of over 6.2 million inhabitants through access to essential services.
The head of Argentine Water and Sanitation added that “it is a source of pride that the international organizations of the IDB hierarchy can see all the effort we are making and continue to accompany us, to achieve our goal of improving the quality of life for more and still Argentines and Argentines”.
Together with the IDB, AySA has carried out, for example, the expansion of the Hurlingham treatment plant which has gone from 150,000 to 450,000 inhabitants benefiting from or the signing of the loan for the construction of the pumping station and the sub-river effluent of 7 .5 km of the Berazategui system, which will benefit over 7 million inhabitants with the improvement and expansion of the sewage service.
The meeting was also attended by part of the IDB team, including Sergio Campos, Head of the Water and Sanitation Division, and Ariel Yepez, Head of the Infrastructure and Energy Sector. Also present on behalf of the AySA team were Patricio D’Angelo, General Administrative Director, and the Director of Institutional Relations, Mayra Mariani.
