Cervecería y Maltería Quilmes increased its exports by 50% in 2022, reaching 421 million dollars which include barley, barley malt, beer brands Quilmes, Stella Artois, Budweiser, Andes Origen, among others, and wines from the Dante Robino winery.
The company that once belonged to the Bemberg family is now part of the group Anheuser-Busch InBev, number one in beers in the world and one of the five largest companies of mass consumption in the world, headquartered in Leuven, Belgium
The production of beer is represented by a large supply chain involving 130,000 people and goes from the field to the bottle. Argentina is the major supplier of barley and malt in South America and one of the top 10 export complexes in the country.
This was underlined by Martín Ticinese, president of Cervecería y Maltería Quilmesm one beer out of every 4 that the company produces in the world is produced with barley from the province of Buenos Aires.
The agribusiness division accounted for almost 95% of exports with a 20% increase in barley volume over the previous year. The company works with more than 1,100 barley farmers, distributed in more than 250 cities in the province of Buenos Aires. The barley is malted in its two malting plants in the province of Buenos Aires, one in Tres Arroyos and the other in Puán.
As for the beer, the company exported 37% more volume than the previous year, mainly because Uruguay’s beer exports have grown. The company exports its flagship brand Quilmes to 15 countries, among these United States, Brazil, France, Japan, Germany, Australia, Mexico; and, to a lesser extent, Cerveza Patagonia, Stella Artois, Budweiser, Corona and Goose Island up to Chile, Mexico, Paraguay, Uruguay and Peru.
Also, for the first time it exported Isidra, the Cider of Cerveza Patagonia, in Paraguay and Uruguay; and beer tapas in Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile and Bolivia. These tapas are made in Coroplas, in the town of Quilmes. The company also exported soft drinks and isotonic drinks: Gatorade to Bolivia, Brazil and Uruguay; and 7up and Paso de los Toros in Uruguay.
For its part, Bodega Dante Robino, a winery that the company acquired in 2020, had doubled its exports in 2021, and in 2022 managed to maintain the record level of exports, sending its products to Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay , Ecuador, Guatemala, the United Arab Emirates, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Qatar, the United States and the Dominican Republic.
