Almost a carbon copy of what happened in January, when it was the first to increase on the 15th, Prices were adjusted by Shell on Wednesday of their fuels. The increase was 4%, the value agree with the government.

Also as in January, the announcement of the hike comes a day after inflation data is released and serves as a reminder that prices cannot get a day off. The INDEC CPI showed an increase of 6% per month in January and 98.8% year over year.

The company reported that, with the price update, it is looking for “minimally absorb biofuel price increasesthe rise of logistics costsand the variation of official exchange rate which affects the price of the raw materials used for the production of fuels”.

YPF and Axion have not yet applied the increases, but they will surely follow the same path in the coming days.

New gas prices will cause Super to cost $163.21; the prize, $199.88; diesel, $175.36 and premium diesel, $238.91.

In this way the path of increases in the quantities of petrol defined between the Ministry of Energy and the companies is completed.

As a way to apply a small delay in the impact on inflation, the increase -that initially It was scheduled for each beginning of the month, it applies only from the second fortnight.

There is more increases to come: according to it had recorded 3.8% in March. Then, the Government and companies will sit down to outline the rest of the year.

While other oil companies haven’t announced it yet, once one company scales, the others tend to fold. In this case, it was started by Raizen, which is the one who manages the stations that carry the Shell brand. Although there may be a difference of hours or days, it has always been followed by its competitors

Fuels have a weight ofl 4.2% of the consumer price index (CPI). However, its increase too leads to higher logistics costs for companies, as they have to pay more for the transport of their goods. In this sense, the indirect impact is greater.

In any case, the Argentine prices are -in dollars- cheaper than those in neighboring countries (Bolivia, Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay), so it is likely that motorists from those territories will continue to come to fill up. As for Brazil, the amounts are similar.

The oil companies applied seven increases during 2022. In gasoline they were below the annual CPI, while in diesel they were above that indicator.
