After the interruptions planned to avoid saturation of the network and others which generated record consumption and which strongly affected the southern part of the city, an extraordinary intervention was carried out over the long weekend to set up the electricity network.

Edesur’s crews, as well as technical support and customer service areas have been strengthened to fine-tune the network and resolve all the inconveniences resulting from the heat wave.

Among the tasks underway are jobs on medium voltage cables that have experienced overloads due to record consumption which has generated the highest temperatures for a February since 1961.

Also the replacement of fuses in buildings and the replacement of light poles in different areas of Greater Buenos Aires where strong winds with gusts were recorded on Thursday and Friday which generated various obstructions on the overhead networks.

Crews work throughout the long weekend to finalize service normalizations and perform additional tasks to strengthen the network for the final leg of the summer.

This also includes the placement of Four Packs at different points and substations to support the system and proactively while retrofitting works requiring several days of joint activity are carried out.

The Four Packs are large generators, about the size of a container, capable of powering an entire medium voltage cable and several cameras. They are used by Edesur in periods of high consumer demand as an extraordinary measure to strengthen the electricity system.
