A $400 million loan is approved to improve the diet of 2.4 million Argentine families

He Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) announced today that it has approved 400 million dollars to benefit approximately 2.4 million Argentine families in vulnerable situations.

“With the aim of provide food assistance to people in situations of social vulnerability in Argentina, including girls and boys, adolescents, pregnant women and people with disabilities, CABEI has approved 400 million dollars to finance the Argentina Plan Against Hunger (PACH),” the body expressed through a press release.

The regional multilateral organization specified that, with these resources, it is expected to benefit 2.4 million families in the country’s 24 jurisdictions through Alimentar, a PACH tool that seeks to improve the quality of food for the most vulnerable families, guaranteeing early childhood rights through access to basic food baskets, which in turn promotes the mobilization of local food production and commerce.

“The allocation of these resources reaffirms the commitment we have as a Development Bank to support programs and projects focused on reducing poverty and inequality in our member countries, with a positive impact on the quality of life of millions of Argentines,” he said . executive president of CABEI, Dante Mossi.

On Twitter, CABEI’s director and representative for Argentina, Philip Solhe thanked the support of Mossi and the direction of the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa.

“Yesterday the Board of Directors of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration approved a disbursement of 400 million dollars for Argentina’s Plan against Hunger which will enter the country in about 20 days. I appreciate Dante Mossi’s support and the enormous effort by Minister Sergio Massa”, published Solá.

For his part, Massa shared the message of the former foreign minister on the same network and added: “Excellent work by Felipe Solá, who represents 400 million dollars in revenue for Argentina to support social programs.”

This operation is the second approved by CABEI at PACH, after the first approved in November 2022, for 50 million dollars.

Today’s approval incorporates investments for the connection between Argentina and Central America, with the aim of promoting technological innovation in information systems for the implementation of food safety policies.

The financing terms are set for a 20-year period, including a five-year grace period and a “competitive annual interest rate,” the note concludes.
