Reached the number of people with registered work in the country 13.07 million in December 2022with a positive change of 0.2% compared to the previous month (27.7 thousand people more), while in comparison theyear-over-year increase was 4.9% (607.9 thousand more workers), according to the latest report by the Ministry of Labor based on data from the Argentine Integrated Pension System (SIPA).
Out of the total, 10.187 million people with registered subordinate work were surveyed (including the private sector, the public sector and work in private homes); and 2.89 million people with self-employment (single-tax payers and self-employed workers).
The level of employment reached in November 2022 is 4.4% higher than the value in February 2020 (262.9 thousand people more); and employee employment stood just 0.1% below the all-time high reached in December 2017, the labor portfolio added.
The set of people with Registered employment has increased by 0.2% in the last month (16 thousand more employees) was driven by companies in the private sector, where the number of employees grew by 0.2% (14.4 thousand more employees); while employment in private homes showed an increase of 0.1% (0.7 thousand people) and public employment remained stable.
Self-employment grew by 0.4% (11.7 thousand workers) compared to the previous month due to the increase in the number of male and female workers who joined the social single tax (+11%, 60.8 thousand employees), higher than the decrease observed in the number of workers included in the single tax system (-2.6%, 50.8 thousand fewer people).
For its part, self-employment grew by 0.4% (1.7 thousand more people).
In the year-over-year comparison, the total number of employed workers increased by 3.2% (+313.4 thousand employees), mainly due to the expansion of the private sector (+4.4%, 263.5 thousand people), followed by the growth of the public sector (+1.5%, 51 thousand jobs in more), while work in private homes decreased by 0.2% compared to the same month of the previous year (1.1 thousand fewer workers).
Finally, self-employment as a whole grew by 11.3% (+294.5 thousand workers) in the annual comparison driven by single taxes (+39.7% single social tax and +6.6% single tax), while the number of taxpayers to the self-employed scheme grew by only 1.6%.
The monthly growth in employee employment recorded was verified in nine of the 14 sectors analysed; while in three sectors it remained stable, and in two a setback was observed.
