Domestic workers: more concessions

At the end of February, the government announced the relaunch of the Registered Program which added further benefits for domestic workers.

Starting this month, they can access the unemployment coverage and have also been expanded pension rights. On this last point, employees who work less than 16 hours a week will have access to a pension.

What is the Registrada plan and how it benefits employers and employees

The renewed initiative was first launched in October 2021 with the aim of reducing employment informality in the sector of workers in private homes, ensuring they stay in a registered job, cashing them in and working on gender equality, as it is the sector that employs the most women.

In its first version, the plan was to move for six months between 30% and 50% of salary -depending on the employer’s income level- to a free salary account in the employee’s name at Banco Nación.

In this updated version, the benefit becomes 50% in all cases. on the minimum monthly net salary of the worker or the worker in a private home corresponding conventionally, on the basis of the hours and categories declared by one’s employer at the time of registration for the benefit.

In this way, the National State extends for six months the contribution it will pay on the salaries of new hires. Registration for the program will remain open throughout the year.

The benefit will correspond to all employer families with incomes below the non-taxable minimum. And in cases where the contracting person is a worker with a disability or with children with disabilities, is a transvestite, transsexual or transgender, or a worker who is a regular employee of the ACOMPAÑAR program (whether or not he continues to receive the economic benefit), the benefit will be extended for 8 months instead of 6.

If the employer does not meet the established requirements, “You must make a full refund of the amount in pesos which was granted under the aforementioned Program”, warned the Government.

With this benefit, domestic workers do not lose access to other benefits through the National Social Security Administration (ANSI)such as universal child benefit (OH)discounts on SUBE card for public transport and the Food card of the Ministry of Social Development.
