Three eminent technicians will in principle be responsible for the decision whether or not the controversial exchange of ties with ANSeS is beneficial to the organization. Those named so far are Andrés López, Sebastián Katz and Javier Curcio, three figures of prestige and trajectory in the UBA. They will be in charge of evaluating a measure by which Sergio Massa seeks to finance the deficit and contain parallel dollars.

Within the Faculty of Economics of the UBA, their names have begun to circulate since the Minister of the Economy has requested a verification. He discussed it for the first time on Friday with the UBA vice-rector, Emiliano Yacobitti, who distanced himself yesterday and questioned the fact that it had not been presented to Congress earlier. And he finally formalized the request this Monday with a letter sent to Dean Ricardo JM Pahlen Acuña, and to the National Auditor General, Jesús Rodríguez.

“They are all excellent: Andrés in production issues, Sebastián in monetary and financial issues and Javier in social issues”, said an economist familiar with all three candidates. These are economists with different institutional positions within Economics, and who will now play a key role in the opinion on the exchange and sale of ANSeS bonds, even if they will not necessarily issue the technical opinion. “If the order arrives, we will do the job”, they said in Economics.

In the market and in the opposition Warn deal hurts ‘pension funds’ Whyand “weighs” the goods in the hands of the social security institution, since in exchange for the exchange and sale of securities in dollars, it will receive bonds in pesos to 2036 net of inflation and dollars. In the academic institution there are also doubts about how the Treasury will pay those commitments in the future, given the difficulties that the government is currently facing in financing its debts.
