The next April 11ththe Argentine Agricultural Federation (FAA) will travel to the city of Buenos Aires a call for urgent measures to alleviate the plight of drought-affected producers. The date was agreed after a round of consultations with the directors of the institution which took place yesterday.

The protest measure was voted on at a meeting of farmers organized by the FAA on February 28 in Villa Constitución, Santa Fe, given the national government’s lack of response to a historic drought that has devastated crops and rangelands, caused a serious deterioration of the il livestock, forced the advance sale of animals and caused a large slaughter of livestock in much of the productive area of ​​the country.

THE delegation of federated executives who will march towards the Capital will bring a “distress call for producers in emergency” to the Executive and Legislative powers. Earlier, at 11 am on Tuesday 11 April, they will deliver it to the Ministry of Economy and subsequently they will present it to the House of Representatives.

Among other urgent points, they asked for the suspension of the embargoes, the exemption from the payment of personal income tax and related advances, the suspension of the blocking of accounts and the constraints of the banks, and that the aid promised in the form of Contributions be specified. reimbursable for producers. They will also ask for substantive measures such as the amendment of the emergency law, a plan to eliminate export duties, an end to the exchange rate differential, multi-risk insurance and a comprehensive and progressive tax reform.

The FAA informed the Liaison Table of its resolution to mobilize Buenos Aires on April 11 with these claims and now, the other three agricultural entities that comprise it will consider whether or not to accompany the federated members, a decision they must make in their respective Boards of Directors which will meet in the next few days, even if at the moment there seems to be no consensus in this regard.
