Mercado Libre, the e-commerce and financial services platform of entrepreneur Marcos Galperin, has announced that this year it will incorporate some 13,000 people in the region, mainly in the Technology, Product and Logistics areas.
In Argentina they will add 800 jobs. they will be others 5,800 in Brazil, 5,350 in Mexico, 600 in Chile, 600 in Colombia and 150 in Uruguay. In total, the company will have a team in Latin America which will exceed 50,000 people towards the end of the year.
The recruitment plan of the platform provides for the hiring of approximately 11,000 employees in the logistics area, over 1,700 professionals in the Technology area, which is the heart of the company’s operations, and another 600 in the rest of the areas.
In Argentina, in particular, it will add 400 people in Technology (IT) and Product, 150 in the Logistics area and 250 in the Business and Personnel area, specified Carolina Miranda, Senior Director of Talent of the company.
“Basically in the local market we will add data engineers, information security profiles and product developmentas well as representatives of shipmentsamong other locations,” he commented.
According to the directive, “for two years, the platform has been operating remotely with optional face-to-face,” he said. “That is, each person can choose the work scheme that best suits their professional and personal needs. We also incorporate the possibility of work up to 90 days a year from anywhere in the world. We focus on creating trust-based work environments that provide autonomy to initiate, take risks and innovate,” Miranda explained.
The board also underlined that the company’s growth goes hand in hand with the great penetration of e-commerce, which has accelerated after the pandemic and multiplied the number of user transactions.
Only in 2022, Mercado Libre delivered billion parcels through its logistics network as the company has 19 storage centers distributed in Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Argentina.
In the past 12 months, the company, created 23 years ago in the country, processed more than 100 billion dollars in payments, recorded revenues of more than 10 billion dollars and the operating result exceeded the threshold for the first time. 1 billion dollars.
