The Minister of Economy, Sergio Massaannounced measures to promote the planting of wheat and communicated aid exceeding 10,000 million dollars for poultry affected by bird flu and for dairy farmers affected by drought.
First, from a deed in the city of Navarro in Buenos Aires, the official has indicated that there will be a swap financing program so that “the raw material (cereals) is the payment instrument in fertilizers, in agrochemicals, but also in other inputs”.
He also reported it will reform resolution A7720 of the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic, which prevents access to credits to producers who hold more than 5% of the soybean crop. According to Massa, “it acts as a ceiling on access to credit for producers”. Furthermore, he underlined that “there will be a change in the levels of the amounts so that there is more funding”.
“Surely, this problem that we, the next government, will have to face, regardless of political color, will have to face it with less difficulty because it will have more corn, more sunflowers, much more wheat and, of course, more soybeans. Because the countryside is one of the engines of the economy,” said Massa, accompanied by the secretary of agriculture, Juan José Bahillo, the minister of agricultural affairs of Buenos Aires, Javier Rodríguez, and the mayor of Navarro, Facundo Diz.
On the other hand, he mentioned the aid for poultry producers and milk producers. The avian plan, which he has a $7.5 billion fundit will be targeted at commercial and backyard poultry producers who have had to euthanize animals due to avian flu and destroy egg production.
The amount of aid per producer will be determined by economic evaluation of the categories of domestic birds and products carried out by INTA and the quantities of birds culled and products destroyed.
Likewise, it was emphasized that access will be simple because the data on which the benefit is calculated is located in the Senasa computer system and derives from the digital certificates of slaughter (SIGACTAS).
For their part, producers whose animals were slaughtered before the entry into force of these programs will have 30 days to apply for admission. In all other cases, the interested producers can submit the request from the 6th day of conformity of the slaughter certificate and up to 30 days after it.
According to data from Senasa, so far it has been confirmed 70 cases in backyard birds, 13 in the commercial sector and 7 wild birds distributed in Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Neuquén, Santa Fe, Río Negro, Chubut, Chaco, San Luis, La Pampa, Corrientes, Santa Cruz, Jujuy, Santiago del Estero, Salta, Formosa and Mendoza.
This comes amid controversy over whether or not to carry out a massive vaccination against the virus. The expressions of the two main chambers of productive companies are contrasting: the Argentine Chamber of Poultry Producers (CAPIA), which brings together egg producers; and the Center for Poultry Processing Companies (CEPA), which brings together the poultry manufacturing industry. Both Cepa presidents, respectively from Capia, Roberto Domenech and Javier Prida, were present at the Navarro event.
Egg producers have called for vaccination on all farms in the country, while chicken producers warn that this measure would affect exports.
“In the first week of June we will recover the most important markets. Companies that export have between 25 and 50% of their turnover dedicated to exports”, remarked Bahillo.
Massa has instead communicated a fifth installment of Impulso Tambero, which with a fund of 2,756 million dollars for milk producers affected by the historic drought and by the macroeconomic conditions that have affected the cost of production.
Also includes a update of benefit values to assist producers: $20 for producers up to 1,500 liters and $15 for producers between 1,501 liters and 5,000 liters inclusive.
Plus I know will raise the cap per manufacturer to $800,000 extraordinarily for this share.
