Tycoon George Soros has come out in the last few hours to deny his own death, after rumors that he was dead have gone viral in the last few hours.
The 92-year-old billionaire posted a message on his Twitter account that read: “The rumors that I have had a heart attack are completely false. I am alive and well.”
The false versions of the entrepreneur’s death had emerged from the Politics For All Ireland account, a profile with very few followers, which shortly after deleted the message. However, it was enough for the lie to go viral. And many take it for granted.
Soros is an American investor born in Hungary in August 1930, who generated his own fortune through investment funds.
Additionally, he has recognized philanthropic work. According to a report published by Forbes magazine in January, the tycoon’s Open Society foundations – present in more than 100 countries – support human rights, justice reform and democratic governance, which has generated strong questions from more conservative sectors .
“In March 2022, the group donated $25 million to create the Ukraine Democracy Fund to support civil society in Ukraine, one month after Russia launched a war against the country; it raised another $20 million per fund from other donors,” the magazine’s survey highlighted.
He recently had a public crossover with Donald Trump, who has linked up on numerous occasions with prosecutor Alvin Bragg who managed to first indict the former president. Through a statement, Soros has categorically denied this.
Soros acknowledges that he has made numerous donations to “reform-oriented prosecutors” since 2015, noting that Democracy PAC, a campaign funding group he created, has donated $4 million to the “Colors of Change” campaign in particular, but points out: “None of these funds have been allocated to Bragg’s campaign.”
According to the statement, the former president, his supporters and various elected officials of the Republican Party “have sought to divert attention from the facts of this case at the hands of the prosecutor (…) by falsely insinuating that Soros played a role in the decision of the grand jury and district attorneys”.
