Edesur has to pay users $126 million for the February cuts

The Edesur energy distribution company has to pay over $126 million in compensation for 60,150 users affected by power outages between 6 and 16 February.

This was reported by the Comptroller of the National Electricity Regulatory Entity (ENRE), Walter Martello, who reported that the energy distribution company of the southern zone of the metropolitan area of ​​Buenos Aires (Amba) You will have to pay a total of $126,980,037.

Through a press release, the ENRE highlighted that this is the second fine in a series of sanctions that the institution has applied to Edesur due to the succession of cuts between December 2022 and March 2023, which exceed the $259 million in compensation to 137,322,000 users.

“This new penalty represents the sum of the bonuses that Edesur must automatically credit subsequent invoices of users who, in the aforementioned period, suffered interruptions in the supply of electricity for a minimum of 10 continuous hours”, specifies the ENRE.

Likewise, he specified that “in each payment of the electricity service, the express mention of the resolution, of the determined credit and, if the credit exceeds the amount to be paid, the residual balance which must be calculated in the next bill, in a disaggregated manner must appear ”.

Last month, ENRE imposed an initial fine of more than $132 million for the December cuts.

“I am fully aware that fines do not repair the inconvenience caused by the company’s sustained cuts and inefficiency, but it is my obligation to do so and I will not hesitate to continue. While we work on the conclusions of the complaint to Congress and the criminal complaint filed,” he had said Martello notifying the distributor of that penalty.

Edenor fined for safety issues on public roads

The ENRE fined days ago with $64 million to Edenor Electricity Distribution Companyconcessionaire of the northern area of ​​the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA), due to safety deficiencies on public roads.

“I have fined Edenor $64 million for safety failures on public roads. They are for anomalies related to electrical safety violations on public roads at various points in the AMBA,” Martello said.

That entity had also fined Edesur $53 million for failing to serve its customers, as well as more than $132 million in compensation to users.
