After the President of the Nation, Javier Milei, ordered the release of exports, a meat entrepreneur decided to reopen his two refrigeration plants in the province of Chaco.
Happy with the measure ordered by the president, the industrialist and doctor of veterinary sciences Alberto “Cacho” Schiffo wrote him a open letter to share the news that quickly went viral on social networks.
The two factories in question are located in the province of Chaco and they had already suffered the vagaries of foreign trade regulations, experiencing closures and reopenings. The first to resume activity will be Industria FrigoChaco SA, located in the city of Resistencia, and is aimed at production intended for export to the European Economic Community, in particular according to the Halal rite.
Alberto Schiffo, owner of the FrigoChaco and Toba meat processing plants.“In January we will start with 70 workers, with the aim of reaching 150 in March. In March we will begin renovation work on our second factory, Frigorífico Toba SA, located in the Puerto Tirol department. This project, under the direction of the Kosher Rite, will include the construction of a stainless steel salting tank and the implementation of a rotating drawer to improve our processes,” Schiffo explained.
Their goal is to inaugurate this second factory in June or July. To go live, it will initially hire 120 employees, with a forecast of 250. “With this expansion, we expect to actually and directly incorporate 400 new operators, which would imply the creation of approximately 1,000 external outsourced jobs, benefiting approximately 1,500 families,” said the entrepreneur.
“Unfortunately, In 2006 our factories were affected by the total closure of beef exports under the administration of then president Néstor Kirchner, which led us to compensate the 400 workers at the time”, commented the industrialist.
Toba refrigerator, Puerto Tirol, Chaco.“The meat industry is singular and unique; its process precisely requires the disassembly, processing and disposal of Argentine meat to export it to the world,” underlined the entrepreneur.
Sucks has more than five decades of experience in the refrigeration industry. He started working in the Tomás Arias factory in Riachuelo, in Corrientes, which is currently inactive, with 120 workers left unemployed, which he regrets. For this reason, he expressed, he has “great interest” in taking over management, considering the possibility of unifying the Corrientes and Chaco meat processing plants to further strengthen his presence in the sector.
“Despite the lack of active export slaughterhouses in the provinces of Corrientes, Misiones, Formosa and Chaco, which represent approximately 16% of the country’s cattle population, we are committed to addressing this challenge,” Schiffo said.
The industrialist expressed great satisfaction, which led him to make public the letter addressed to the President of the Nation. “I sincerely appreciate the availability and support that you, as well as your Secretary of Agriculture, Mr. Vilella, and the president of Senasa, Mr. Cortesse, have shown towards our companies and the recognition of the risk that we are willing to take run,” he noted.
Likewise, he stressed that the reopening and commissioning of these two plants, as well as the acquisition of supplies, are carried out exclusively with own fundswithout bank loans or government assistance.
“Both companies are made up entirely of our family group. Faced with the prospect of being able to export the quantity that each company is capable of producing, we took on this challenge with enthusiasm,” said Schiffo.
So much so that he felt encouraged to invite the president to the inauguration of the plant. “I sincerely appreciate your tireless dedication to the country and the effort you and your team make every day to promote the growth and development of our nation. May God and the forces of Heaven be with us,” Cacho’s letter concluded to the president.
