The national government has made it official the payment in January of a bonus of up to 55 thousand pesos for pensioners and retirees. This is a sum that the beneficiaries had already received in December last year, with the previous administration, and which, according to official sources, will be extended next month, with a figure to be defined.
Decree 116/2023, signed by Javier Mileias well as by the Chief of Staff, Nicolas Possand, and the Minister of Human Capital, Sandra Pettovelloit is dated 29 December, but was published this Tuesday in the first Official Journal of the year.
The measure has as scope that none of the beneficiaries of the lowest category cwork less than $160,712 pesos.
According to the document, pension financial help is sought mitigate the consequences of the “serious socioeconomic situation”. that our country is going through”, which “has caused, among other things, an accelerated increase in the price index, with a particular impact on the elderly with lower incomes, for whom it is necessary to resort to their support”.
In this framework, the Government has established a strengthening for the holders of the contributory pension benefits provided by ANSES, the beneficiaries of the Universal Pension for the Elderly and the beneficiaries of non-contributory pensions for old age, disability and mothers of seven children. mora and other non-contributory pensions and ex gratia pensions whose disbursement also falls within the orbit of this pension body.
In any case, the Government has made a clarification: for those who receive an amount less than or equal to the minimum amount, which in December was 105,712.61 dollars, the pension financial assistance will be equivalent to 55,000 dollars, while for those who receive a amount above the first digit, they will receive the amount necessary to reach the limit of $160,712.61.
Likewise, the decree highlights that “in order to benefit from this pension financial assistance, the benefits must be current in the same month in which the payment is made”, that “in the case of pension benefits, regardless of the number of co-participants, these “must be considered as the sole holder for the purposes of the right to the pension benefit granted by this decree”.
Finally, he underlines that “the financial pension aid granted with this decree will not be subject to any discount nor calculable for any other concept” and that “the provision will come into force on the day of its enactment”.
The officialization of the bonus takes place amid uncertainty about what will happen with pensions, because the Government has sent the bill to Congress in which the application of the adjustment formula is suspended social security benefits, pensions and social plans.
In the team led by the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputoensure that discretionary increases are a better and more cost-effective solution for beneficiaries earning the minimum than continuing to apply the current formula.
