Last weekend to file tax returns

This Saturday, April 30, is the deadline for filing your tax returns for the year 2021 for most individuals.

Fortunately for latecomers, since April 30 falls on a Saturday this year, personal income tax returns will be considered filed on time if received before Monday, May 2, or with a May 2 postmark. 2022 or earlier.

This deadline is the same for those who must pay taxes.

Self-employed workers and their spouses have until June 15 to file their tax returns for the year 2021, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) notes.

The latter also points out that people who received COVID-19-related benefit payments in 2020 and became eligible for interest relief, have until April 30 to pay any income tax debt in excess of timeline for the 2020 tax year to avoid future interest charges.

It is important to file your tax returns before the deadline to avoid delays of various benefits.
