It was a key decision for Argentina. US judge Loretta Preska has rejected the government’s latest request to extend the deadline for submitting guarantees and thus avoid the activation of an embargo against the country in the process for the nationalization of YPF.
For the second time the judge ruled against the country and confirmed that from Thursday 11 January Argentina is subject to a possible embargo. “Judge Preska confirms January 10 as the date on which Argentina will be able to present guarantees and thus avoid embargoes during the appeal of the YPF expropriation sentence,” underlined the specialist in the matter Sebastián Maril, via the X network. He added : “Starting Thursday the 11th, plaintiffs will be able to initiate requests to seize assets located in the United States and around the world.”
