“We understand that the numbers are absolutely terrible, I’ve said this yesterday and on other occasions. Any inflationary number is terrible, it’s a horrible number. Of course inflation will remain high, It is likely that we will continue to have double-digit inflation in the coming months,” spokesman Manuel Adorni said.

The spokesperson said this in his usual press conference at the Casa Rosada, while the president is defining the details of the trip to Davos to participate in the World Economic Forum.

The spokesperson also insisted that the national government managed to “avoid hyperinflation” and assured that the economic team led by Luis Caputo made “a superhuman effort” to contain the December price index.

“We will continue to have high rates. The data is terrible, but it could have been much worse”Adorni noted.

Milei celebrated the inflation data released by INDEC, warning that without the measures adopted when he took office, the country would enter hyperinflation.

“It’s a mid-field goal,” the president’s entourage underlined shortly after learning the INDEC data. That definition underlying the index which brought inflation to 211% per year was shared by Milei himself through the social network

The spokesperson insisted that despite the dramatic inflation data, had it not been for government measures, “the cliff would have been a real photo“.

Adorni also referred to the impact that inflation has on the purchasing power of workers. “Of course when there is inflation there is a loss of purchasing power, but the truth is not negotiable.”

And in this sense he continued: “Continuing with fixed prices, managed by the previous government, is not part of our plan and direction, and this must be resolved with a series of issues.”

“Magically things don’t get resolved and that was evident The Argentines would pay the bill for some issues and what we are trying to do is make this payment as benevolent as possible for a punished and impoverished society,” he added.

Criticism of Pablo Moyano and new reference to “good Argentines”

As Javier Milei did on his social networks, Adorni took aim at the general secretary of the Truckers’ Union and co-secretary of the CGT, Pablo Moyano, for saying that his goal is to overturn the DNU and the omnibus law.

The presidential spokesperson referred to the operation’s collection sent to Truckers and other social organizations.

“We heard Moyano say in a natural, and certainly brazen way, that his goal is to overturn the DNU and the omnibus law and ratify the strike. Of course, these words do nothing other than ratify that we are on the right track“the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson emphasized once again that these statements allow “to see who is in the past and who is not, and who wants Argentina to change.”

“Good Argentines, who work, invest and want to live in a better country, support our initiative and fortunately we are the majority who want a better Argentina. We don’t fully understand why there are people who want to live in the past,” he highlighted .
