The governor of Mendoza, Alfredo Cornejohe said it Thursday “It’s not healthy for the economy for everyone to create a currency”when referring to the project of issuing a quasi-currency in La Riojapromoted by Governor Ricardo Quintela and approved by the Provincial Legislature, to meet the expenses of the district administration.

“To the problem of the depreciation of our currency that all Argentines suffer, adding a quasi-currency is not a good solution“, Cornejo considered this morning in statements to Radio Mitre.

In this sense he underlined that “it is not healthy for the economy for everyone to create a currency” and recalled: “We have already taken this path in Argentina”.

Likewise, President Mendoza warned that “regardless of whether it is a crime or not, something that Justice must define, in some way.” It is clearly prohibited by the Constitution“.

Subsequently, Cornejo claimed that behind this initiative “There is a bit of ‘fulbito’ for the stands on Quintela’s part“, who he accused of having “the province in flames for the non-payment of salaries” and of “trying to demonstrate that the problem is not his, but the nation’s”.

“There are provinces that have made their efforts to achieve fiscal balance, like Mendoza, which has been in balance for seven years, which has 10% fewer public employees, which has a very robust productive sector,” he compared the radical leader.

Although he admitted that his district “would also have problems for the loss of profits, it would not have problems for the discretionary transfers of the national government because it no longer has them with Alberto Fernández.”

“La Rioja had them with the previous government and if (president) Javier Milei cuts them, La Rioja should adapt its situation to the national fiscal program, essential to revalue our currency, which is the peso and not the bond or a quasi – money” concluded Cornejo.
