What did the Greek Prime Minister say to Luis Caputo during an exclusive lunch in Davos?

On the last day of his stay in Davos, the Chief of Staff, Nicolás Posse, the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Diana Mondino, attended a lunch on foreign policy organized by Lally Weymouth of The Washington newspaper Post.

During that meal they found the Minister of Economy on the main table. He had been summoned to talk about the economic reforms that Argentina is carrying out.

To the amazement of many, congratulations also came from Greek Prime Minister Kyriákos Mitsotákis, who spoke and said that just as Greece had managed to get out of such a difficult situation at that time, Argentina could do it too.

Another who came close was Jamie Dimon, JP Morgan’s number one, also encouraged and congratulated.

Queen Máxima of the Netherlands was present at the meal; the president of Israel, Isaac Herzog; the head of state of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs; from Armenia, Vahagn Khachaturian; the president of the European Central Bank, Christine Lagarde; and former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Tony Blair, among others of the 400 world leaders (including presidents, ex-presidents, ministers and businessmen) who attended the World Economic Forum.

During his speech Caputo underlined the need to return to the foundations of the ideas of freedom that made the country, One hundred years ago it became the most important economy in the world.

And he referred to the importance of introducing fiscal measures to achieve stability and deregulating the economy to generate growth.

After the Minister’s presentation, the leaders stated that the world is looking with optimism at the reforms being implemented in Argentina.

Among other things, weeks of tension await the minister as well as the negotiations that the Government must face to approve the central part of the laws which imply a drastic reduction of the deficit. This is his greatest commitment to the IMF.
